Details

The esteemed Italian conductor helms two emblematic works: the deeply nostalgic Cello Concerto by Dvořák, featuring Gautier Capuçon as the soloist, and Prokofiev’s enchanting and lyrical Romeo and Juliet.

Quatre Dédicaces is a collection of orchestral miniatures composed by Luciano Berio between 1980 and 1989, curated under this title by Pierre Boulez, who premiered the set in 2008. A pinnacle of the genre, Dvořák's Cello Concerto, his final work written in the United States, is infused with profound melancholy, reflecting the composer’s longing for his homeland. Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet, one of his most celebrated works, showcases his boundless melodic creativity, vibrant color palette, and elegant writing style. This often warm and inspiring tone contrasts sharply with moments of fiery drama and intensity.
